• When did the desire to create your own cosmetics brand arise?

I can say that I have been working on my own cosmetics brand since I was 18 years old, when I started learning about essential oils and experimenting with them. I spent years formulating our Balancing Face Oil in my kitchen, with the goal of achieving an all-natural product that would give my skin everything it needed, leaving it looking smooth and fresh.

I always wanted to create the products I wanted to buy but couldn't find on the Market. There are many brands that launch “lifestyle” cosmetics and for me it's all about the ingredients. I became obsessed with reading the ingredient list of cosmetic products and looking for information in the field. This led to me making my own blends and both myself and my family and friends used these products created by me.

• What does the name Alex Carro mean?

The name Alex is short for my own name – Alexandra, and everyone calls me Alex. Carro is a tribute to my Galician roots and the summers I spent in rural Galicia with its rich variety of flowers, plants and herbs. Carro is my family's nickname and a tribute to my grandmother Jacinta Carro.

• Today we are witnessing a growing increase in ecological cosmetic brands. What is Alex Carro's position as a sustainable brand?

Many brands want you to fill the bathroom with products that don't have a specific use. We are totally transparent about what you are using and how you should use it; mixing our brand's products together is the best way to get more results. It's better for the environment, it's more sustainable and gives you a better value for money. This is what we do and we encourage others to learn and do the same.

• Why should everyone use Alex Carro in their beauty routine?

Our range is genderless and designed with a modern approach to how to use cosmetics. The concept of mixing products together reflects the way we all actually use products in real life, that is, adapting their use to our preferences and needs.

• What is Alexandra's favorite product?

Our new product (Detox Superfood Mask) quickly became our bestseller and my favorite product because it was made with so much care, love and dedication. It is a transformative product that eliminates all the “grey days” from our skin.

• If Alexandra had to live with just one product, what would it be?

I will have to choose Balancing Face Oil , without a doubt! Rose, geranium, evening primrose, argan and Japanese rice bran oils… all are fantastic ingredients that give the skin an intense boost. It's the product I take everywhere. It is suitable for anyone and has an instant impact on the skin. Basically, it is a product that meets all desires and is suitable for healthy skin, it leaves the skin luminous without make-up, it has a wonderful smell and when massaged into the skin of the face it also has a relaxing effect!
